The RASPBERRY Pi 3 single-board microcomputer is a follower of successful ARM-based computers. It was introduced on the day exactly four years after its first version release, and it brings a number of new features, such as a more powerful processor and wireless WiFi and Bluetooth. Pi 3 supports a variety of operating systems and greatly serves as a multimedia center in the living room alongside your TV, and with a network card connection is also suitable for surfing the Internet.
One bit of news is an integrated, first-time 64-bit processor with four Cortex-A53 kernels at 1.2 GHz, which will provide about one and half the power output.
It works with 1GB of memory and VideoCore IV graphics chip, now with 300 MHz. For multimedia purposes, composite output and HDMI transmitting sound will also work greatly. Support for most available formats is a matter of course.
PI 3 is fully compatible with its predecessors. The same basic architecture, as in PI 2, ensures trouble-free operation of old projects you know from an earlier version.
From connector gear it keeps four USB 2.0 ports and newly brings WiFi 802.11n and Bluetooth 4.1 wirelessly. There is also a microSD card support for storage, and a 2.5A adapter is recommended for power.
This product is not self-contained and may require expert installation.
